Izumikanemitsu Yanagiba (1 shaku) and Deba (7 sun) Set with Buffalo Horn Handle
This is a set of a Yanagiba and a Deba from Izumi Gen Kanemitsu, a long-established manufacturer with over 500 years of history in Sakai, Osaka, one of Japan's three major cutlery production areas. Both feature water buffalo horn ferrules.
Both show signs of use commensurate with their age, such as polishing scratches and marks from rust removal, but are in good condition.
The Deba weighs a substantial 414g, indicating it is a luxurious piece made with abundant steel. Also, as both appear quite old, they are likely made with higher quality steel than what is used today.
